Vragen over privacy: info@wemeekit.nl.
Screenshots omzetten in taken.
English
Who we are
Foto Opruimer (Dutch for “photo cleaner”; in the App Store: Foto Opruimer: Ruimte vrij) is an app by WeMeekIt (Lourens Meek), the Netherlands. Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number: 93173822. We are responsible for what this policy describes. Privacy questions: info@wemeekit.nl. We have no data protection officer; we are too small for one. Last updated: 14 October 2026.
In short
Foto Opruimer helps you clean up your photo library: duplicate and near-identical photos, screenshots, receipts, blurry or failed shots and large videos. All analysis happens on your iPhone, using Apple’s built-in image recognition (Vision). There is no account, there are no ads and the app contains no analytics or tracking. Your photos and the results of the analysis stay on your device. We do not receive them.
A future version will add one exception, and you switch it on yourself: cloud AI analysis, a Pro feature. The current version (1.0) does not include this feature yet, and nothing leaves your device. Only once you give permission in the app are downscaled copies of photos the app is unsure about sent through our server to Anthropic. This is described below under “Cloud AI analysis (Pro)”. Purchases are handled by Apple; see “Purchases and Pro”. The app is available in several languages; screen names below are given in Dutch with an English translation.
What the app does on your device
For each part: what it is for, what happens, and what is stored.
Looking at your photos. To clean up, the app asks for access to your photo library. You choose whether that is the whole library or a selection. The app looks at each photo on your device and works out how sharp and how bright it is, which other photos it resembles and what is in it (such as “beach” or “receipt”). For screenshots and documents it also reads the text. For a series of near-identical photos it counts the faces and checks whether someone has their eyes closed, to pick the best shot. The app does not recognise who is in a photo. If a photo is only stored in iCloud, iOS fetches a small version from your own iCloud Photos library; that traffic runs between your iPhone and Apple. You give permission through the iOS prompt; you can change or withdraw it under Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.
Analysis cache. The app stores the results in a file on your device, so that the next scan only needs to look at new or changed photos. For each photo it holds an iOS reference to that photo, the date, the computed characteristics and, for screenshots and documents, the text that was read. No copies of your photos. Photos that no longer exist are removed from it.
Cleaning up, deleting and hiding. The app never deletes anything on its own. You choose what can go, and iOS then asks you to confirm. Deleted photos remain in the Recently Deleted album for 30 days. The app never suggests favourites or photos on your “Altijd bewaren” (always keep) list.
Compressing videos and converting Live Photos (Pro). The app makes a smaller version on your device and saves it to your photo library. For this, iOS asks for permission to add photos. The date, location and favourite status are copied from the original. The original then goes to Recently Deleted, after iOS asks you to confirm.
Privacy scan. The privacy scan searches the text that was read for photos of a passport, ID card or driving licence, bank cards, account numbers (IBAN), Dutch citizen service numbers (BSN), boarding passes and passwords or codes. This happens only on your device. Of any number it finds, the app shows only the last four characters. If you choose to hide a photo, iOS moves it to the Hidden album, which iOS protects with Face ID. Nothing is sent to us.
Turning screenshots into tasks. The app recognises dates, links, addresses and phone numbers in screenshots, on your device. At your request it turns them into a reminder or a calendar event. For a reminder, iOS asks for access to Reminders. iOS only offers full access for this, but the app uses it only to add the new reminder (title and text of the screenshot) to your default list; it does not read your existing reminders. For an event, the app opens the iOS calendar screen, where you see the event first and save it yourself. The app does not read your calendar. You can withdraw access under Settings > Privacy & Security > Reminders and Calendars.
Search. When you search with words, the app searches the analysis cache. A Dutch word the app does not know is translated into English on your device using the iOS translation feature. iOS may download a language pack from Apple once for this. Your search terms are not sent to us.
Receipts and sharing. From photos of receipts, the app extracts the shop, date and amount on your device. If you export the archive as PDF or CSV (Pro), the app creates that file on your device, and you choose where it goes through the iOS share sheet. The same applies when you share the text of a screenshot.
Storage and iCloud. For the storage forecast the app checks how much space is free on your iPhone and how large your photo library is. It stores the result on your device. You enter your iCloud plan and other iCloud usage yourself; the app does not look into your iCloud account.
Notifications. The app can send you a notification: a monthly clean-up reminder (if you switch it on), a warning a week before your iPhone is full, and the result of the night autopilot. The app schedules these notifications itself, on your device; there is no server sending them. You give permission through the iOS prompt; you can withdraw it under Settings > Notifications > Foto Opruimer.
Night autopilot (Pro). If you switch it on, the app looks at new photos only, at night, while your iPhone is charging. This happens on your device and without internet. If there is enough to clean up, you get a notification at half past eight in the morning.
Settings. Your choices are stored on your device: such as the “Altijd bewaren” (always keep) list, how much you have cleaned up, how much you have deleted today (for the free daily limit) and whether you have given permission for cloud AI analysis. Like the analysis cache, they are included in your iPhone’s regular iCloud backup if you have that switched on; that is Apple’s backup, not something of ours.
For everything above: we do not receive this data and cannot access it. The processing happens on your device, at your request.
Cloud AI analysis (Pro)
Not available yet. This feature is not included in version 1.0 of the app. Once it arrives in an update, it works as described below, and only after you give permission in the app.
What it is. Some photos cannot be classified well by the app on your device. For those doubtful cases there is “Uitgebreide AI-analyse” (extended AI analysis), a Pro feature. An AI model then checks whether a photo was taken by accident, is a meme, a photo of text or a receipt, or is a failed shot. Each photo gets a short reason.
Only with your permission. The feature is off by default. Nothing is sent until you switch on the consent toggle under “Uitgebreide AI-analyse” and then tap “Start AI-analyse” yourself. You also choose how many photos are included per run (at most 300 by default). The app never sends favourites.
What is sent. For each photo a downscaled copy: at most 768 pixels wide or high, as a JPEG. Without file name, without location and without any other metadata; only the image. The app also sends Apple’s proof of purchase, so the server can see that you have Pro. That proof contains, among other things, which product you have, the purchase and expiry date and an Apple purchase number. No name, no email address and no Apple ID.
How it works. The copy is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which runs on Cloudflare (Cloudflare Workers). The server forwards the photo to Anthropic, the company behind the AI model Claude, through the Claude API. Anthropic returns a category, a score and a short reason. The server passes that answer back to your iPhone. Anthropic only sees our server’s address, not your IP address.
What is kept. Our server keeps no photos and no results. The photo is only there for as long as the assessment takes. Anthropic keeps what comes in through the API for a limited time only, under its own policy, and does not use it to train AI models. For the exact period and any exceptions (for example in case of misuse), see Anthropic’s privacy policy: anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Cloudflare processes technical connection data, such as your IP address, to run and secure the server; see cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
A counter against misuse. To limit misuse and costs, the server counts per purchase how many photos were assessed that month. For this it stores at Cloudflare (Workers KV) only the purchase number from Apple’s proof, the month and that count. No photos, no results, no name, email address or IP address. We cannot tell from the purchase number who you are. The counter disappears by itself after about 40 days.
Who does what. We (WeMeekIt) are the controller for this feature. Cloudflare and Anthropic process the data on our behalf, as processors. Both are US companies, so the photo may be processed outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Appropriate safeguards apply to that transfer: the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses in their data processing terms and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Legal basis. For sending photos: your explicit consent. For the counter: our legitimate interest in preventing misuse and unlimited costs.
Withdrawing. You can do so at any time: switch off the toggle under “Uitgebreide AI-analyse”. After that the app sends nothing more. A run that is already in progress can be stopped with the “Stoppen” (stop) button.
You decide. The AI only gives advice. Photos it considers unnecessary appear, with a reason, in the “AI: overbodig” (AI: unnecessary) list. What goes is up to you.
Purchases and Pro
Foto Opruimer is free to use, with a limit of 25 cleaned-up items per day. Foto Opruimer Pro is available as a subscription per month or per year, or as a one-time purchase. Payment is handled by Apple (StoreKit). We receive no name and no payment details. The app only asks Apple whether your purchase is active. A trial, your subscription and cancelling are managed with Apple, under Settings > your name > Subscriptions.
Who we share data with
We do not sell data. There are no partners, no ad networks and no analytics services. Data only goes to:
- Apple, for purchases, and for fetching photos from your own iCloud Photos library if you use it. This falls under Apple's own responsibility and privacy policy.
- Cloudflare and Anthropic, only if you give permission for cloud AI analysis, as described above.
Apple’s privacy policy is at apple.com/legal/privacy.
How long we keep data and how you delete it
Our server only holds the counter for the AI analysis, for about 40 days. Everything else is on your device and stays there for as long as you leave it:
- Analysis cache, including the text that was read: clear it under Instellingen > Alles opnieuw analyseren (Settings > Analyse everything again). The app then starts scanning from scratch.
- The "Altijd bewaren" (always keep) list: clear it under Instellingen > Lijst wissen (Settings > Clear list).
- Permission for cloud AI analysis: switch it off under "Uitgebreide AI-analyse".
- Monthly reminder and night autopilot: switch them off under Instellingen (Settings).
- Files you exported and reminders or events you created: these are wherever you saved them, and you manage them there.
- Everything at once: delete the app from your iPhone. The analysis cache and your settings are then gone. Your photos stay where they are.
Withdrawing permissions: Photos, Reminders and Calendars under Settings > Privacy & Security; notifications under Settings > Notifications; the AI analysis inside the app.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict processing, to object, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. The most we hold about you is a monthly counter linked to a purchase number, and only if you use cloud AI analysis. We do not know who belongs to which purchase number. If you want to exercise a right, email us at info@wemeekit.nl and we will help as best we can. Everything the app stores on your device is under your own control, as described above under “How long we keep data and how you delete it”.
If you believe we handle your data improperly, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens): autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl/en.
Children and automated decisions
The app is not aimed at children. The app makes no decisions about people and builds no profiles. The AI analysis assesses photos, not people, and only gives advice; you decide what goes.
Security
The connection to our server is encrypted (HTTPS), and the server also talks to Anthropic over an encrypted connection. The server only accepts photos together with a proof of purchase for Foto Opruimer Pro. The key for the Claude API is stored only on the server, not in the app. On your device, the analysis cache and your settings are kept in the app’s private storage, protected by iOS.
Changes
If the app changes what it does with data, we update this policy and change the date at the top. The current version is always on this page; the app links to it under Instellingen > Privacybeleid (Settings > Privacy policy). This version applies from 14 October 2026.
