KvK-nummer: 93173822. Vragen over privacy: info@wemeekit.nl.
Wij ontvangen niets.

Who we are
PartyLights for home (inside the app it is called PartyLight) is an app by WeMeekIt (Lourens Meek), the Netherlands. Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number: 93173822. Privacy questions: info@wemeekit.nl. We have no data protection officer; we are too small for one. Last updated: 14 October 2026.
In short
PartyLight makes your smart lights move to music. It does this on your own device. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no servers of our own. We receive no data from you. What the app hears or sees stays on your iPhone, and what the app sends to your lights stays inside your own Wi-Fi network.
Two features send data to Apple: song recognition (via Apple’s Shazam service; on while the microphone is the source, and you can switch it off) and Apple Music (you switch that on yourself). They are described below under “Features that send data to Apple”. When they are off, nothing leaves your device, apart from the check of your purchase with Apple. That is described under “Purchases and subscription”.
What the app uses on your device
For each part: what it is for, what happens, and what is stored.
Microphone. When you start a show, the app listens to the music and derives the tempo, the beats and the energy from it. This happens live on your device. The app records nothing, stores no audio and sends no audio anywhere. iOS shows an orange dot in the status bar while the app is listening. You give permission through the iOS prompt at your first show that uses the microphone; you can withdraw it at any time under Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. Without the microphone the show still starts: you tap the tempo yourself, and a song from Apple Music that the app already knows runs on its plan. The demo (the Demo source, and “Eerst uitproberen” on first launch) does not use the microphone.
Local network. To find and control your lights, the app searches your Wi-Fi network for lights (Philips Hue, Nanoleaf, Govee, LIFX, DMX devices) and sends colours to them directly. For this the app stores on your device the address of each device and the key or access token that a Hue bridge or a Nanoleaf issues when pairing. Those keys and tokens are kept in the secure iOS keychain. This traffic never leaves your network. You give permission through the iOS prompt at the first search; you can withdraw it under Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network. Without that permission the app cannot reach your lights; you can then only watch the show on the example lights inside the app.
Home app (HomeKit). If you add your home, the app reads through HomeKit which lights are in your Home app (name, room, manufacturer, and whether a light can dim and change colour) and controls those lights through HomeKit during a show. After the show the app puts every light back the way it was. The app does not read or control other accessories (locks, cameras, sensors). The list of lights stays on your device; nothing is sent to us. You give permission through the iOS prompt when you add the home; you can withdraw it under Settings > Privacy & Security > HomeKit.
Learned songs. When the app knows which song is playing (through Apple Music or song recognition), it remembers the song’s tempo, beats and drops so that next time the show can plan ahead. For each song the app stores the song’s code (the ISRC, or otherwise the song’s ID in Apple Music, in Shazam or in your music library), title and artist, the computed beat structure, how often the song was learned and when it was last learned. No audio. This is kept as files on your device. Under More > Learned songs (More > Learned Songs) you can delete one song or everything.
Your own moments and a palette per song. If you mark a moment in a song yourself (a drop, a flash or a colour change), or choose a palette of your own for a song, the app stores with that song’s code its title and artist, the position of each moment in the song and which palette belongs to it. This is kept with the settings on your device and only there. If you delete the song under More > Learned songs, this is gone too.
Photos. If you choose a photo to make a colour palette from it, the iOS photo picker opens. The app does not ask for access to your photo library and only sees the one photo you tap. From it, the app derives up to five colours on your device. The photo itself is not stored and is not sent anywhere; only those colours and the name you give the palette are kept.
Settings and presets. Your choices (effects, brightness, colours and palettes, rooms and where you placed the lights in them, the times of “Rustig na…” (quiet hours), presets) are stored on your device. They are included in your iPhone’s regular iCloud backup if you have that switched on; that is Apple’s backup, not something of ours.
Clock. For the countdown, the sleep timer and quiet hours the app reads your iPhone’s clock. No additional data processing is involved.
Live Activity, Control Centre and Shortcuts. On the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island and in Control Centre the app only shows what it already knows: the song title or a short line such as “Luistert mee” (listening), “Wacht op muziek” (waiting for music) or “Volgt jouw tempo” (following your tempo), the tempo and a stop button. No additional data processing is involved.
For everything above: we do not receive this data and cannot access it. The processing happens on your device, at your request, because you start a show or pair a light.
Features that send data to Apple
Song recognition (Shazam). On by default, and only active while the microphone is the source. During a show the app then creates acoustic “fingerprints” of what the microphone hears and sends them to Apple’s Shazam service to look up the title, artist and position in the song.
When: at the start of a song, until it is recognised, and after that a few more times as a check, less and less often: about twenty seconds after the recognition, a minute after that check and three minutes after the next one, each time until the song is recognised, usually a few seconds. If a check finds nothing within about twelve seconds, the app listens once more straight away; after that the music counts as unrecognisable. After those checks the app only listens again when the song should have ended (for a long song after ten minutes at the latest) or, if the song’s length is not known, every three minutes. A song the app is still learning is checked once more shortly before its end.
If the music audibly changes (a different tempo, silence followed by music, or a rhythm that no longer fits a song the app knows), the app listens again at once: that is how it notices that someone has skipped within the song or put on another one. If nothing turns out to have changed, it carries on where it was, and after each false sign it waits longer before the next sign counts. Music that cannot be recognised is first tried for half a minute to a minute in a row and then less and less often: about twelve seconds at a time, with pauses growing from twenty to about 160 seconds.
When it is silent, the app sends nothing. Silent means: quieter than the threshold of the sensitivity slider (More > Microphone) for a few seconds. The app cannot tell music from other sound: if there is only talking or other sound during a show, it fingerprints that too, at the rhythm of music that cannot be recognised. According to Apple, such a fingerprint is much smaller than the audio and cannot be turned back into the recording.
For a recognised song the app also fetches the album cover from Apple, for the colours of the show. Apple receives your IP address with these requests. What Apple does with them is described in Apple’s privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy) and in Apple’s note on music recognition (apple.com/legal/privacy/data/en/music-recognition). We receive nothing.
You can switch it off at any time under More > Microphone > Recognise songs (More > Microphone > Song Recognition); that takes effect immediately, also in the middle of a show, and the app then no longer learns songs that come in through the microphone. The iOS microphone prompt already mentions the fingerprint. Legal basis: the feature is necessary for what you ask of the app (letting the show plan ahead on songs it recognises).
Apple Music. If you choose Apple Music as the source, iOS asks for permission to access your media library. The app then reads which song is playing and how far along it is. To identify the song for the learning feature, the app sends the song’s code to Apple’s Apple Music catalogue. It reads the album cover for the colours of the show from the Music app on your device. Apple’s processing is covered by Apple’s privacy policy. You can withdraw permission under Settings > Privacy & Security > Media & Apple Music. Legal basis: your consent.
Purchases and subscription
PartyLights Pro. The app has in-app purchases: PartyLights Pro, as a subscription per month or per year, or as a one-time purchase. Payment is handled by Apple. We receive no name and no payment details. The app only asks Apple whether the purchase is active.
Trial. You can first try Pro free for four hours. The app keeps track of how much of that trial you have used as a counter in the iOS keychain, on your device. That counter is not sent to us. It stays in place when you delete the app, so installing again does not give a new trial.
Who we share data with
Nobody. There are no partners, no ad networks and no analytics services. The only party that receives anything is Apple, and only for the features under “Features that send data to Apple” and for purchases. We do not sell data and do not transfer anything outside the European Economic Area; what Apple does with those requests falls under Apple’s own responsibility and privacy policy.
How long we keep data and how you delete it
We keep nothing, because we have nothing. Everything the app stores is on your device and stays there for as long as you leave it:
- Learned songs, with your own moments and the palette per song: delete under More > Learned songs (one song or everything).
- Your own palettes (including those made from a photo): delete under Effects > Colours > Palettes (Effects > Colors > Palettes).
- Paired devices and their keys: unpair under Lights > Devices (Lights > Devices).
- Everything at once: delete the app from your iPhone. Settings and learned songs are then gone. iOS sometimes keeps an app's keychain items; if you want to be sure the keys are gone too, unpair your devices first. If you install the app again later, it deletes the keys and access tokens that were left on first launch. The trial counter does stay in place.
Withdrawing permissions: microphone, local network and Apple Music under Settings > Privacy & Security; song recognition inside the app.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict processing, to object, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because we hold no data about you, the only thing we can do with such a request is confirm that we have nothing; everything the app stores is under your own control as described above under “How long we keep data and how you delete it”. Feel free to email us at info@wemeekit.nl.
If you believe we handle your data improperly, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens): autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl/en.
Children and automated decisions
The app is not aimed at children and collects data from no one, so not from children either. The app makes no automated decisions about people and builds no profiles.
Security
Hue bridge keys and Nanoleaf access tokens are stored in the iOS keychain. The connection to a Philips Hue bridge is encrypted (HTTPS and DTLS, as the bridge requires). The protocols of Nanoleaf, Govee, LIFX and DMX are not encrypted by those manufacturers. That traffic contains colours and control commands, and for Nanoleaf also the device’s access token; it stays inside your own Wi-Fi network.
Changes
If the app changes what it does with data, we update this policy and change the date at the top. The current version is always on this page; the app links to it under More > About (More > About). This version applies from 14 October 2026.
